When the fight took place I was pulling for Hagler. I had a bit of a bias against Leonard because he seemed a little too egotistical to me. I don't think that now... but I did then.
So with that said... I thought Leonard won early, by a narrow margin, and Hagler won nearly all of the middle rounds with Leonard taking over again in the very late rounds. I still see it that way. BUT.. initially I thought Leonards late round wins weren't quite enough to overcome the point total Hagler had built up in the middle rounds.
Later I began to believe Leonard's late round victories weighed more heavily than I had first thought.
Then today.... and as I've stated... I think it was a draw. I don't think either fighter ever established dominance. Both exhibited power, good defense, AND most importantly, to me anyway... the ability to 'come back'... taking the best the other offered and then countering effectively.
