while it's true that I know squat about the Royal family, individually... the 'history' of the Royals is quite interesting. We toured a lot of Royal related sites, saw innumerable Royal related artifacts, jewelry, etc... and I was quite interested in all of it.
Interesting and related anecdote (to me anyway
). During our last visit my son took us to nearby Oxborough Manor? Castle? not sure what it is. It's little known, not really on any tourist spots. We loved the place.... it's surrounded by a moat. Not HUGE, as castles go, but quite large... but here's the 'interesting' part -
Just recently, (after our visit), they discovered all kinds of rare and hidden historical artifacts - both in the attic AND under some floorboards. When we were there they were doing a lot of repair, restoration... I suppose the discoveries took place because that. The Castle/Manor was owned by... uhhh, either Catholics or a family that sympathized with Catholics... (the manor had one of those "priest Holes"
, during the time King Henry did his best to rid England of Catholics - SOOO.... lot of priests hid there during the purge and apparently a lot of artifacts were secreted away on the grounds and in the manor.
Always been fascinating to me to ponder how closely we are to history without really being aware of it. Who knows, maybe your house is atop some incredibly important location that could precisely date man's first steps into what is now California. - JamesJM
