I bought everything the article recommended but found that most of wasn't really necessary for my needs. I think the instructions I found are more for people who are doing detailing. I'm not THAT picky. I just want clean windows without smears. What I did learn from this, though, is that a spray bottle with 50% distilled water (4 oz), 50% vinegar (4 oz), and a couple of tablespoons of alcohol works wonders. That concoction worked far better on my car windows than the commercial glass cleaners I've purchased. It worked so good that when my daughter dropped by for a visit, she used it to clean her car windows, too.
