I have encountered that in a different setting before: Jet-skiing.. now bear with me..
Camp out on the lake..wake up before sunrise early the next morning.. Fire up the ski right as the sun breaks the horizon and its barely light outside.. lake is always like glass because nobody was on it overnight.. gentle sun rays barely illuminating the lake as you plow across it wide open..
Ok, so, not as serene due to the sheer horsepower of the ski - and the noise.. but truly an amazing experience..
I think I've mentioned my other life altering experience: Looking for a friend's gopro at 120 feet deep in Belize - totally alone.. I just look at the vast ocean around me and I'm the only human as far as the eye can see, which is easily 400 feet.. can see the ocean floor and surface, totally alone in that vast atmosphere that, technically, I didn't belong it.. Spectacular..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
