your first day is going to be miserable. Perhaps your second day as well. Your going to fall, and fall a lot... your going to get wet. The 'instructions' will make no logical sense to you and your skis will cross when you are taught to 'snow plow', even though it DOES work, once you get the feel of it.
Thus... for the first day, and again perhaps the second, you will experience very little of the 'good'. So I can say to you that there is nothing as peaceful, serene, and soothing as gently gliding down a smooth slope, in almost complete silence, in some of the most beautiful county you'll ever experience... and you'll GET that now, hearing it... but once the frustration of actually starting to ski sets in 'serene and soothing' will be the last thing on your mind.
but there is a happy ending - you don't have to become a great skier to love it. You can fail to ever advance beyond the 'snow plow' stage and be perfectly content. If you're athletic you may be up and snow plowing in not that much time, if your persistent, or perhaps stubborn is the right word.
