they're on a travel team and they play in 'national' tournaments. There are step under the true pro's but play them.
I have not played in many years... and while I LOVED it I'm not a big fan of how it evolved and has become what it is today. I understand why it's become how it is, however... logistics, more control to make it a 'sport'.
When I played it was exactly like war... we played on natural fields... trees, creeks, boulders, etc. Today they have a set up field... handmade bunkers precisely located depending on the specific game 'type'. I have a hard time watching and understanding the 'strategy' but that's me because strategic it is.
My son-in-law and grandson's best finish was 3rd in Calif. I think they placed 5th in a western USA tourney once.
Their weaponry is amazing... so complicated and 'technical' that you need a college degree in engineering to understand it. Just a guess here but I'd say a full outfit to take the field... gun, attire, face mask, the works... probably runs them $2,500 each?
