Awesome that you get to do something you like to do and actually benefit from your hard work.. I've seen photos of people who have set up "gardens" so to speak with PVC pipe with holes drilled into it.. hydroponic, or something like that.. If I ever were to do anything, I'd probably try that route since everything is kind of contained in the PVC pipes..
When I was a kid we had a small garden in the back and I pretty much only remember the cherry tomatoes kicking major butt.. pulled a hand full off every day, seems like.. don't really remember anything else flourishing as much as the tomatoes.. sounds like you're in the same situation..
