SAD SAD night. Like after the loss of Bella, I cannot help but hurt extra for my Wife. And...sigh.... TODAY is her Birthday. Hardly an hour after we got back from the Vet, he starting really panting but calmed down. I left to get some burgers for dinner. While I was away, my Wife said he tensed up, trembled and started gasping....just before I walked in the door. It REALLY REALLY hurt but I'm glad I was there when he took his last breath. It was SOOOO brutal to put my ear to him and not only NOT hear his purr (Which was CONSTANT!) but to hear nothing?? I keep telling myself....."No more pain." Won't be much sleep tonight.
Guys, I am REALLY hurting and I know will be balling tonight but say a prayer for my Wife. Colonel was VERY special to her. She's really hurting. The vision I cannot shake is her holding him just before we wrapped him in a blanket and buried him right next to Bella. It's been a tough 12 days.
