What a crap day so far..

Had to take my wife to work at 6am this morning - her car is being worked on and she can't drive a stick.. (I've tried, believe me!) On the way, we see what looks like a grass fire, with cops all around it.. anyways, I drop her off, get home and the garage door won't open.. and won't open.. etc.. I pull the remote apart to rotate the battery and it still won't open..

By the way, it was - and still is - sleeting outside..

So, sitting in truck trying to figure something out.. I have lots of keys on my keyring that I can't identify.. So, go to the front storm door and try every one of them - in the dark - but none work.. then I realize the porch light didn't come on immediately.. its a motion detection light.. So, the power must be out... ohhh - the fire was the transformer they so loving placed on a curve by our house that people constantly run off the curve and run into, so our power goes out almost daily..

So, no garage door and no front door.. THE BACK DOOR - but its inside a 6' privacy fence and locked with a combination lock and its pitch black outside, so that ain't gonna happen.. so I steal the neighbors trash can and use it to climb over the fence.. NICE! Go to the back sliding glass door.. No keyhole.. ok, guess I never noticed before.. because the garage door always worked..

Climb back over.. warm up in the truck.. I don't have a cell, no lights are on anywhere - its 7am by now.. I drive to the transformer fire and a police guy tells me its gonn abe a LONG time before they get the power back on..

I drive back home.. sit in the truck a while and make a decision.. I'm busting a window out and going inside.. Main bathroom window is the smallest, but has a storm window over the regular window.. BUT ITS LOOSE! So, I pry the storm window off so I can pull it out of the way - yes I pulled screws out of wood.. its pitch black and I have no tools.. I got back and warm up some more - hoping the power comes on..

THE POWER COMES ON!

I hit the remote, which no longer works.. Garage door is tighter than a gnat's butt, as we say.. I get pissed.. that's when things generally happen..

I grab a brick and go right to the bathroom window and smash it, unlock it, push it up, and climb through.. dogs are going crazy thinking its a thief.. then they go silent.. probably afraid of the thief..

I crawl back into bed after cleaning the broken glass and a couple of Halloween ceramic ornaments I broke that were on the window sill.. Just got up and now hafta call a window guy AND get a new garage door opener..

The crappy part is its sleeting big time and we have to go to Dallas (130 miles) tomorrow for my specialist appointment.. God is REALLY testing me right now - he should KNOW I have little to no patience by now.. but that doesn't stop him from continually testing it...
