But with common sense (RARE these days!!) by the people. Even if there's a vaccine, I would not bank on still not getting Covid. I stopped getting Flu Shots because I got $%%&$$^ SICK AND TIRED of getting the Flu when I did. Got my first Flu Shot 2 days into USAF Boot Camp in Feb 1986. Two days later??? BAM! Flu #1. I would get one each year through Jan 1993. In that time, I had FOUR freaking flus. That last one hit in early Feb 1993. That one was the worst. Took me almost a month to shake it. After that??? I said "EFF THAT!!!!" No more Flu Shots for me! 27 years later, I have had MAYBE 3-4 colds and ZERO Flus. Am I anti vaccination? No. I know the shots work great for others but not me.
Covid and masks. I am not totally sold. I have heard to many stories on and off the Fire Dept of elderly patients being in QUARANTINE and still getting Covid. My neighbor two doors down is very frail. His Daughter is VERY anal about his protection. Two months ago, he caught it.....but beat it. I hear masks work but it's like using a chain link fence to deflect a marble thrown at it. A combination of masks, distance , hand washing and LUCK is what it takes. The WORLD could shut down for three months and it will go away.....for a while. As long as there is ONE case out there, we all are at risk.
Vaccines?? You can bet that EVERY one they come up with that WORKS will be pulled because of a few adverse reactions. Remember Contact 12 hour Cold Capsules?? Those things worked like a CHAMP! BUT a few people started having strokes and away Contact went.
For now and possibly for the duration, Common Sense, Common Hygene and Common COURTESY is the best bet. And TRUST me...As a Firefighter who goes into homes and deals with people?? ALL three are rare these days. THAT is why we are where we are.
