Those days-and before that-I enjoyed heavy weight and middle weight boxing. I recall watching Kid Gavilan, Sugar Ray Robinson, Jake Lamotta, Joey Giardello-all those guys. I remember watching Joe Louis being beaten by Walcott. I remember Marciano and many others thanks to NBC Friday Night Fights ("to look sharp, to feel sharp"
the Gillette razor blade commercials, etc. All thanks to television.
But I lost interest in boxing because of all the concussion stuff that was proven to be so debilitating to so many fine boxers (i.e. Ali, Louis , etc. ). Same with football. I love my Rams for the same reasons I identify with the Dodges-but it's a different sport today. It's all about glorified violence and I don't care about watching people destroy their lives anymore. Yes-I watch the Rams and USC-but that's it.
