the best athletes are the best in all the sports they play, if they play them. So the top football player will be a top basketball player, baseball player, tennis player, whatever. Usually the best athletes I have known will gravitate toward the sport they do the best playing... that becoming their favorite. Not always, however...

I've known a few who were fantastic at baseball but preferred football, where they weren't as good, and gave up baseball. And vice versa.
