Pretty sure I've mentioned this....back 'in the day' I was into ALL music, I've always been that way. Surfer music, Elvis, Beatles, all of it... but without question Rhythm and Blues was my 'go to'.
Tonight, as it so happens, I was playing a game with my granddaughter who IS AMAZING.. in that... she is SO into music across the board... across generations, across genre... she takes after me, Papa... so I was trying to stump her....
and I was being TOUGH... like tracks on 70 year old LP's that never made the radio... and SHE KNEW THEM.... or nearly all of them that is. 90%... and I'm not kidding.
I haven't got a clue how she knew those songs. Let me set this up:
Took a trip this afternoon to Sam's Deli to buy lots of great imported food from Italy, (Sam's Deli is fantastic)... on the way she said, "Papa, listen to my playlist".... and then proceeded to stun me. MY favorites, songs I hadn't heard in decades. "Blueberry Hill" by Fats... that type of thing... and even MORE obscure... "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin.
It became a challenge, trying to 'stump' her... which I did.. but not easly... in fact, for a while I thought I was going to fail. Never been so proud in all my life. - JamesJM
