Still learning all the ins and outs of the new studio and new guitar rigs I'm running inline with it.. Geez, everything has CHANGED in the world of home recording studios and has gotten WAY complicated.. but, in watching vids of people setting up their sounds and stuff, I've seen guitarists playing in their bedrooms who are so good its unbelievable.. Just amazing talent out there hidden away in back rooms of people's houses because they don't rap and dance, which appears to be the only things the general public cares about anymore..
..and here's my theory on that: Remember in the 80's when there were a TON of bands that almost everyone in the band was a virtuoso on their instrument and the singers were all off the charts amazing? Well, there were TONS more of GREAT musicians who couldn't find great singers, so death metal and "cookie monster vocals" were born so those guys could put out material, as well - with HORRIBLE vocals, but they made it a "feature" instead of "problem" and a select group of hard core fans bought it..
Same with the whole dancing thing.. you had people who could dance, but couldn't sing, so they minimized the vocals as much as possible and surrounded it with as much dancing as they could, because the people could dance, but not sing..
..and then there was rap.. rap was created by people who could not sing OR dance but bought a word rhyming dictionary and made the focus on the words - like anyone cares about that..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
