I don't like it because to ME, it serves no real purpose. It's like.. well, let's do this to make ya'll feel better. It doesn't fix anything and I am not appeased. In fact, I'm offended by it. It's putting a bandaid on a gushing wound. It doesn't get to the root of the problem which is simple (the hearts of men) but also complex (systemic, cultural, and often politcal). I don't have all the answers, but for me... this is definitely NOT one of them. I would prefer they NOT DO THIS. Do the real work instead.
And in terms of people saying that the national anthem stands for unity? That would mean (IMO) we are all equal under the law and all have opportunities and are all seen as diverse members of one big community.
It should mean that. Some day it might.
