When Dave Koz first became interested in hosting jazz cruises himself, he came onboard a jazz cruise we were on to spend some time learning the ropes and speaking to the organizers. After about a year, Koz launched his first smooth jazz cruise and he's been doing them ever since, about 10-12 years now. Like his concerts, his cruise is called Dave Koz & Friends and they have some pretty nice travel destinations. .The format is much like the ones we went on.... a slew of well-known artists in the line-up (not just Peter White), lots of concerts, parties, excursions, jam sessions, autograph sessions, wonderful accommodations, artists mingling with guests for a week.... and a fantabulous time. They are always sold out and I hear they're nice and classy. The cruises were cancelled this year due to the pandemic, but plans are going forward for 2021 and 2022. [www.davekozcruise.com]

I'm not sure I can remember every smooth jazz artist I've seen in concert. I've seen a ton... many of them multiple times. We used to go to jazz concerts all the time. I miss that time in our lives when Smooth Jazz radio was the IT music and radio stations all over the U.S. would sponsor artists to come to town and play in concerts and jazz festivals. Smooth jazz left the airways and it's been gone for so long that we are completely out of the loop these days. Every now and then I go poking around on the internet and discover some new artist I really like on YouTube only to find out he's not new and has been on the scene for the past 8 years. We just don't try to keep up with new artists and new music anymore although smooth jazz is still our favorite kind of music. We're pretty happy listening to our smooth jazz library which consists mostly of music from the 90's and early 2000's. It never gets old to us.
