having a memory causing me to remember a smell, that is. #1 for me is 'sage'. I grew up hunting on various ranches in the Coast Range... and today I own a ranch in the Coast Range... the smell of 'sage' is, just maybe, the greatest of all smells. So any memory for me that has to do with the Coast Range and I'm smelling sage.
About sage... I have 3 partners on my ranch. ALL of us, when the sage is in bloom, break some off to stuff in our vehicles so that we're smelling sage when we return home... and it lasts for a VERY long time. I've had sage harvested in the fall and stuffed under my pickup seat last until the following fall.
