I believe that COVID will not go away. Hopefully, with a proper vaccine-one that works for all the strains-we can control it, much like measles, flu, etc. But the virus will always be with us.

As far as the rise in asymptomatic COVID cases being reported I can't address that. But the hospitalizations rates are increasing-meaning those with symptoms are being admitted more than before.

Significantly it no longer is the older population that is becoming infected. What has alarmed health officials is the surge in new cases of those people between the ages of 18-49. As of Wednesdy 56% of people diagnosed with COVID-19 were 18-49 years old even though they account for only 43% of the State's (Calif)_ population. At the same time people people older that 65 used to account for a quarter of the COVID cases now account for fewer than 15%. While more testing can account for some of the numbers the virus does appear to be spreading more in younger age groups. While a younger person may or may not become severely ill they are "spreaders" to others that certainly will.
