If you told your neighbor that your son had a case of the chicken pox, your neighbor naturally would assume your son was sick. And, by all previous definitions of the term "case" he'd be right.
But the new definition of a "case" specifically for Covid-19 is merely a positive test for the presence of the virus in a person.... no need to be sick. And in fact, the more testing that is done has proven that the vast majority of people with "cases" of Covid-19, aren't sick at all and don't seem to get sick. They are the infamous "asymptomatic cases" of Covid that Dr. Scarf droned on about trying to shift the discussion after being proved wrong that 2.2 million people in the USA were going to die as she announced several times using "models". What is asymptomatic Covid? People who are not sick. Are "not sick" Covid people carriers and spreaders of the disease? There is no universal agreement on this. Not among individuals; not among medical scientists; not among countries.
But even more it is becoming clear that already there is more than one strain of Covid, and they don't all affect people in the same way or as severely.
Could it be that the various Doctors in authority and the media want you to think a wrong thought by insisting by using the word "case"? Why not merely "a positive test"? Because it is not nearly as dramatic and doesn't achieve the desired affect of a determined agenda.
But hey. Let's just assume the absolute worst, and take the most drastic of actions while we endlessly gather more data and wait for something called "science" to ride to the rescue. After all, that is what Doctors tend to do, don't they?
