Luna... I had come to love her. If you read my cat post recently you know that. She was my very good friend.... "was".
Two days ago my air conditioner in the front part of my house went out... and since we're entering the 100's it was BAD. I have 'whole house fans'... so last night we cracked the windows to the backyard... screens up... and turned the fans on. They work well.
3am, or thereabouts, Luna did what she loved to do... got behind the blinds to tease the dogs in the back yard, (not my dogs, my daughters, but living here during the quarantine).... we can only guess what happened.... Roxy, the Siberian, came thru the screen... just enough to latch onto Luna, (apparently). We heard the commotion and rushed outside... pulling Luna from under a table in what we thought was 'just in time'.... she didn't have a mark on her... but she did have saliva on her.
This morning we knew Luna wasn't right. My wife took her to the Vet... they couldn't see any physical injury... their prognosis "Trauma". We brought her home.. she wasn't right. Then she seemed a little better... even drank, and ate (very little)... used the litter box.... then my granddaughter held her on her lap... for hours, and Luna lie still, occasionally moving a little to get a better 'scratch'... but she was fading, and we knew it. I suppose it was about 6 this evening... Luna breathed her last.
She lies by Tinkler... my grandson's dog who died a few years ago. I have a HUGE yard... she's under a tree, next to Tinkler.
I like cats... I think you can say I love cats... but I had never had a cat as a pet, not really. Luna, in just a few months, had won me over. She was my very good friend. Yup, I loved her. Can't remember when we got Luna, (and Kylo, Kylo is fine).... but it wasn't long ago... I guess this last fall, late fall? Point being... we had Luna a very short period of time... but it was more than enough time for her to become family.
