Why in the world would anyone have a "wolf"-if it indeed was one-as a pet, other that something to brag about. Then again it was Laguna Beach-so maybe that's the answer.

But you can't domesticate it. With dogs, domestication means the offspring will be born with an innate connection to human beings.
So for example you can train many animals to understand what a physical intentional gesture like pointing means.
Dog puppies are born with the cognitive ability to understand what a person pointing means. The only other animal that is born with that is other humans.
