from a marketing point of view. Pure genius by BK. Did they spend unknown amounts of money in research and advertising just to go after the 5% vegetarian market? Seems unlikely.
I'm guessing if you took a poll, 90% would say that the Impossible Whopper is a healthier alternative to the regular Whopper. But it isn't, and BK has been very careful to make no such claims in their advertising.
Impossible Whopper / Whopper
Calories: 630 / 660
Grams of Fat: 34 / 40
Grams of saturated fat: 11 / 12
Sodium Mil. Grams: 1,240 / 980
Protein: 25 / 28
What's the biggest difference between the two? The Impossible Whopper cost 20% more!
Yeah it's not made for vegans. I have a few vegetarian friends, including a much valued niece--talking about being vegetarians for years--and they don't do the fake meat thing. In fact whenever I've been invited to eat with these sundry different folk, I am amazed by the wide array of recipes.
Occasionally there are efforts to convert. "Would you tear a wild animal apart with your teeth?" "Not that much recently."
