12 months would be great but given the development of a vaccine has NEVER EVEN COME CLOSE to hitting that mark it seems overly optimistic. Further, don't be naive to the politics involved. Nobody wants to say it would take 4 years. That being said, I agree nobody knows for sure.
I'll spell it out. Its unlikely that any country can maintain such restrictions for 4 years. The economic social and psychological consequences are likely to be devastating. Further as many have pointed out social distancing is designed to slow the spread not stop it so after a certain point slowly down the spread becomes moot.
You're ignoring the fact that they had a head start on this one because of previous work on corona viruses.
You're ignoring the fact that at no time previously was there a global pandemic that leads to massive investments in resources and funding. There's no equivalent to this.
You're ignoring the fact that as my sources indicate, there are many many trained professionals who understand this process way better than either one of us do--and they predict 12-18 months.
You are however heavily pushing your "economy first" line, which many are in this crisis. My response to that is that actually the pandemic is exposing problems in the American economic system (for example the complete lack of universal, affordable health care--something every other developed country already has).
So anyway, with all due respect I'm done, because at this point each of us is just going to just keep repeating our pre-set positions.
zn, did you see the PHd in PHdrams name???
