I busted out mine and started working on my new song.. To get the same setup as the diagram I posted, you set the "Length" to 4 (4 beats for the measure) and the "Quantize" to 16 - so the 4 beat measure is broken up into 16 equal parts..
When you get more familiar with it you can go to 8 beats per measure (twice as long) and up the quantize to however many equal parts you want per measure.. but for now, I'd stick with 4 beats per measure, 16 equal parts per measure - that way if you get in a bind, I can help you figure it out more easily..
As I said, I always build the framework for the song first - just the basic beats, stops, breaks etc.. Frame-work wise I've gotten from the beginning to the first chorus, so far.. All I gotta do is program the chorus, then basically copy everything for the second verse/chorus, add a solo, copy everything for the third verse/chorus then the ending and framework I'm done.. That's take about an hour at most..
Then I go in and start swapping out measure for other measures with fills and more cymbals and stuff..
