In another sense, totally related as it comes to technology. Like Orwell. . . looking back into the future.
I've often said it. . . and I know you know. . . . I think "Casablanca" is the greatest movie ever made. Well, I wasn't exactly honest with you, as there is another one that I find equal to Casablanca. . . only in a different mode. . . science fiction. The movie? "The Day the Earth Stood Still". . . 1951.
OK. . .I know. . .what does this have to do with the subject at hand. Well. . . everything.
You see, in the movie, the alien (klaatu) must demonstrate to the earthlings the power he controls.. And he does so by neutralizing the power to everything. . . save emergencies. And, for a half hour. . . the earth did, in fact, stand still.
My point. . . while back in the olden days this was not possible.. . by any stretch of the imagination beyond the big screen.
Unfortunately, today. . . that IS possible. . . and under the right circumstances technology would allow someone or something to shut down the world.
And all could stand still. . . . again.
So now, we can not only control electrical grids. . . but with the new technology, the right person can control our vehicles now that they have been connected to the internet.
Is this getting scarier?
