When I happened over to the official FIFA website to check the coming matches and saw this:
And I was NOT looking for that.
Actually... I am ignorant... I had to go to the FIFA site when posting an earlier reply to find out that the next round is called the 'knockout round'.
Which brings up.. just quickly... as you may remember I coached football in the 70's, 80's, 90's.... then I helped coach a youth team about 7 or 8 years ago. AMAZING how the terminology has changed... it was like the other coaches were speaking a foreign language. And oddly... what I was describing with my 'old' terminology was precisely the same thing - just the word was different. Receiver routes, blocking schemes, defensive techniques, the Game hadn't changed as much as the 'words'. - JamesJM
