Ivy in the outfield

October 19, 2017 10:12AM
Not sure if anyone here remembers this but long ago in the Pacific Coast League the Los Angeles Angels were a minor league (Tripple A ) team and a farm team for the Cubs. They played in Wriggly Field on Avalon Blvd in south central L.A. Wriggly Field was an identical version of the Wriggly Field in Chicago-with one exception-it was smaller. But it contained the same ivy in the outfield walls. I used to ride my bike there to watch the Angels. Chuck Connors used to play 1st base for the Angels there also.

If anyone is interested they might want to google Wriggly field Avalon Blvd L.A. or Los Angeles Angels Pacific Coast League. Another tid bit: The Cubs used to do their spring training at Catalina Island just off the So Cal coast. .

I don't mind a little subjectivity in sports...
