as you say he lost his balance and THEN he dropped it. To me that is end of story since he had to have caught it before BEFORE "he lost his balance". Simply put the ball was in the control of his glove before it came out. Its no different than Seeger throwing a ground ball to Bellinger who catches it while on the bag and then as he steps off he loses his balance and drops the ball. If you can watch the play again. The glove has clear control of the ball-and then it doesn't. Because of the former the latter is immaterial. The manager didn't protest because its not reviewable.
