I am not very familiar with these type of things... so I do not know if it's as meaningful as it 'seems'. BUT... my head is in the clouds right now.
At school today the Administration gave Mason a packet they received. The letter, (just the first paragraph)...
"Congratulations! Mason Layton - Blue-Grey All-American! Position selected for DB.
On Behalf of the Blue-Grey selection committee we are pleased to announce your selection to the Pacific squad for this year's Blue-Grey All-American Bowl. The big game will be played at C.co Coliseum home of the Oakland Raiders on Saturday January 21st at 4:00PM. The contest will be seen live by ESPN to the entire country."
The letter goes on to give him his reporting time, the hotel where the team will stay, and various other information. In one paragraph, (and I'm sure this is in large part self-promotion) it reads, "Keep in mind that over the last three years over 85% of the All Americans earned football scholarships before or after the Bowl Game.".
My mind is reeling, Dog... we are aware of only one other central valley athlete invited... whom you know: Jaylon Johnson from Central... who accepted Utah's offer and has now stopped playing for Central not wanting to risk injury.
I can't really believe it but I don't see how it can be a 'prank', if you will. It came to the School, not Mason. Gotta be legit, doesn't it? - JamesJM
