Sure , we went to a few rock concerts here at the lakes when I was younger , like Head East , who have been playing here forever

Back in the mid 70's and through the 80's , they used to have a pretty big all day concert at the Iowa State Fair Grounds in Des Moines , not sure why they stopped doing it , I tried Goggling why , and didn't really come up with anything ,

But in 1982 , I was like 16ish , , and off to Des Moines we went , bands included were

38 Special

Iron Maiden

Loverboy

Quarterflash

Rainbow

Triumph

When we finally got inside the fair grounds , the concert had already started , Quarterflash was the opening band

So I guess , technically , Quarterflash was my first big concert show

6 big bands , all day concert , 15 bucks
