I keep my suspicions to myself because my grandkids LOVE him, he's a hero to them. And I don't 'know' anything... I just, welllllll, like you, I'm a bit cynical.

Loved all our Lady gymnasts... but I think it was Simone Manuel, swimmer, that got to me the most. Her interview after her Gold was so genuine, so humble, so gracious, so elegant (whatever that means). Not that the other's weren't... but Simone's seemed the most special to me.

I'm about to show myself as a big baby here... if you repeat this I'll come to your house and pee on your hydrangea bushes. I can't imagine the feeling these athletes get when they medal in the Olympics after YEARS of blood, sweat, and tears. The closest I can come was the day I took my last step on the John Muir Trail, having hiked every inch of it and then some... I broke down. Yup... couldn't contain myself. I had done it... and that was NOTHING compared to their accomplishments.

however, all is far from lost... because I sincerely doubt if any medalist reaches the emotional state I reach when one of my grandkids, or kids, when they succeed, or even give it their best, at anything. - JamesJM
