I totally get ya...

..and you're right: the previous owner of the land renewed the leases for decades, then sold the land to Kroenke.. From what I understand, every lake in the area has the same type situation - people only own the structures, not the land, and for the most part lease from the city.. This particular lake, and one other lake, are privately owned - the other lake is also now owned by Kroenke and I'm sure those home owners are sweating bullets..

Now, I would never enter into that situation.. I couldn't build a house on property I don't own.. In fact, the 10 yards of property directly behind our house is owned by our housing association.. My back yard butts up to it.. The housing association has told me to put whatever I want on it - or build my privacy fence on it.. I can't do it cuz I know there's a possibility I might have to to take it down since I don't own it.. So, I totally understand your point..

I think what bothers me the most is the relatively short amount of time these people are being given to move their houses or whatnot.. Its tough for retired people, with little to no income, that have lived in these same houses for 4 decades to find a way to move their house, or find new housing somewhere else in 6 months..
