Genealogy, any of you ever tinker with it?

My Mom was Mormon.... and as you may know genealogy is very important to Latter Day Saints. She worked hard on ours, but knew little, (nothing), about computers so it was all hand-written. Some years ago I took on the task of adding her info to a genealogy application I purchased.

Came to about 800 people... both my Dad and Mom's side. The earliest ancestor she found, (she passed away while working on our genealogy), was a man born in 1682.

Unfortunately on my Dad's side there is a dead end - he was an orphan in Italy and while we do know his parents names that's it.. no other info at all.

Quick side note: It astounds me that my grandfather, who was my best friend growing up, was born in 1877 - to put that into perspective that's 4 years BEFORE the shootout at the OK Corral.

So not going to bother you with info on my family BUT... like to know just how far you have been able to trace your roots back too? Also which country(s) your family hailed from? - JamesJM
