News so tragic I can't take it in...

June 16, 2022 09:13AM
seems like these days everyday another senseless tragedy occurs. This one hit close to home:

21Dog and I talked about this guy some time back. William Wright... he coached my oldest grandson in HS, (asst. coach)... then helped my grandson get into Reedley JC then onto Western Colorado U. He took a liking to Kerman and while he moved on in coaching he was close to our HS programs and knew many of the players, right up to today... or rather yesterday.... because yesterday.

He was shot and killed. Don't know his exact age but he was a young guy and a new father. This next doesn't make his death worse, (how can it be worse?), but it does make it incomprehensible. He was shot by his own father during a family argument.

The news hit Kerman hard. I know it's cliche to say the departed were kind, carin, gentle, friendly to all.... but nevertheless in this case it was precisely true. He wasn't just 'liked' here, he was loved. Just last week he called several ex-Kerman football players just to check up on them... not about football, just to check on how they were doing... education, job, whatever. My grandson was a one of them.

I did not know him well myself but had spoken to him many times. In fact, when we were scouting DII colleges he was a huge help.... even contacting the respective coaches to put in a good word for my grandson.... and he did this with many Kerman kids and NOT just football related.

We are all in shock and it's kind of like we're waiting for an answer that would explain how this could happen... yet knowing there is no satisfactory answer. - JamesJM
