I've mentioned before that over the years there is nary a dairy barn, cow barn, horse barn, pasture, stack of hay, corral, stage cotton trailer, in the state of California we have not played at.... and most of those venues in Oregon, Nevada... couple other states as well.
So our first practice was tonight, gig is June 26th. It's for a combo Party/Birthday/Anniversary up in foothills in 21Dog's part of the world. So we all get to practice and Gary, our rhythm guitar player, had a story for us.
So ok,, this is true, it happened. Now if you knew Gary, and his friends/crowd, this really wouldn't at all sound out of the ordinary to you... but since you don't, you're not going to believe it. That's your loss because this is true.
The party is on, no problem there. The happily married couple, whose anniversary we're playing for, had a bit of a tiff a few nights ago. Seems blows were thrown, (her at him, not vice versa)... and the cops were eventually called. The happily married couple spent the night in the slammer.
The happily married couple are NOT seeking a divorce... BUT... the 'groom' feels he needs some time away from his blushing bride. To make this short... the 'groom' called Gary and said the party is still on but he won't be there.
We had called the practice tonight to practice, obviously, but also to learn the song we'd be playing for the happily married couple to dance too. We decided to go ahead and learn the song... groom or no groom. Maybe he'll change his mind... but no matter, we're going to pick a couple at random for the dance should he carry through with his boycott.
Over the years I've seen love flower culminating in marriage - marriages end - young couples experience their first kiss - but this is a first. - JamesJM
