I like it, and I like it a LOT. I'm also Italian... so perhaps you think that exposes me as a traitor.
Well, lets explore that.
First of all.... pizza, as we in the USA know it, is not Italian to begin with. If you've been to Italy you may, or may not, know that... 'may not' because American pizza made it's way to Italy... readily available these days, although NOT in the finer restaurants.
And then there is this: I can't say I've ever had pineapple on any 'meat' in Italy... or even seen it. However... fruit and meat, in Italy, is not only popular it's damn near mandatory. Mostly figs, granted, (at least in my experience), but apples, pears, peaches, are ALL common with 'meats'... sometimes fresh, sometime cooked, sometimes (a lot) as a sauce.
And I believe, (no expert, I eat out very seldom), that is becoming more and more popular in the USA? - JamesJM
