Connected with a cousin on my father’s side I’ve never met who lives in San Francisco through the connections from the DNA test.
Found lots of interesting census and immigration documents from my great grandparents on my father’s side when they immigrated from Slovakia and settled in Chicago in the early 1900s.
I stopped paying the monthly subscription a while back, so I haven’t found anything new for a while.
I also have a cousin on my mother’s side who’s
really into genealogy, especially on Mom’s side.
I guess I have an ancestor who was a captain for the north in the Civil War, and another ancestor who was a captain in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.
Most of the DNA markers that popped weren’t surprising: mostly Slovakian, Polish, Serbian, German and Irish.
But also a not insignificant percentage was Swedish, which threw all of us off.
Guess that explains my platinum blonde hair as a child lol.
