In prep for my PET Scan I was STARVING on the way home from the hospital so I stopped at a restaurant and got a "Wet" Burrito. Nothing special about it... just a normal burrito... and it was HUMONGOUS! I ate ⅓ of it..... I MIGHT be a be able to eat another ⅓ for dinner... maybe not.
But I also got a 20oz Black Modelo. I cannot explain to you how delicious that beer was. It was only my 2nd or 3rd beer since last November. (Health problems, I'm not on the wagon

).
Truth is... I could have gotten by with the Modelo alone and not taken a bite of the burrito.
I do not remember how much a McD's hamburger cost when they first opened. 10¢ maybe? That sounds ridiculous today and even THEN it was dirt cheap. Anyway.... we used to have contests to see who could eat the most McD's hamburgers. I was never in the running, actually, but I could get down 4 or 5 or them. I was a RB... my OL'men friends could easily handle a dozen... more, if memory serves.
But this leads me to a story, (sorry about that), about my cousin Danny. Danny was not a huge guy... 5' 6" and maybe 180lbs? (He got a lot heavier late in life). Danny - and to this day I believe this - could eat more than any human being that ever lived. Here's just one tale -
We were setting up our band equipment for a gig.... Danny couldn't help because he was at a Golf Tourney and would arrive in time for the gig but not to set up. At this function they were serving Steak Dinners, buffet style. We had finished eating when Danny finally arrived. We asked him why he was so late and he said they had a Steak Dinner after the Golf Tourney, (Danny never turned down a free dinner). They had given us tickets for our dinner.... 5 tickets for the 5 members of our band. Danny noticed a ticket on the table... and asked, "Is that one mine?'
You got it... he got in line and got another steak dinner. No more than ½ hour after having a steak dinner at the Golf Tournament.
I'm not done.
After he ate his second steak dinner he saw another ticket on our table. Charlie, rhythm guitar player, never ate before gigs. Danny asked Charlie, "Are you going to use your ticket?".
3... that's THREE, full steak dinners with all the trimmings in no more than an hour.
His favorite saying when it came to food was - "What's being hungry got to do with eating?".
