I've been in that boat many times, myself..

I'll wake up at 3am with a melody going through my head that is just outstanding.. And every single time I think, "oh for sure I'll remember that when I wake up in the morning.." and I never do.. I have gotten up and worked the melody out on guitar, so you'd think I'd DEFINITELY remember that in the morning.. No.. I have probably lost 20-30 number one bestsellers because I couldn't remember the melody a few hours later..

I know.. I know.. I should record the melody real fast before I go back to sleep.. Get a little hand-held recorder and hum that thing out on "record".. But, I'm stubborn and continue to believe I'll remember the melody later.. So, I'll never become a rock star because I'm stubborn and stupid.. But, most rock stars I know ARE stubborn and stupid..

Argh.. one of these days..
