in my current 3 Beagles..
Mauie is, by far, the smartest of the 3, but she's also the only one who hasn't learned to shake, or sit.. She was attacked by coyotes, but fended them off and had stitches and staples all over her when I adopted her.. I think her vocal chords got nicked in the epic battle because she has the HIGHEST pitch bark you've ever heard.. Its like 2 octaves higher than any other high pitched bark you've ever heard.. Its pretty funny, but cute, as well.. She's obsessed with other dogs and squirrels and bunnies and will bark incessantly at them in her falsetto bark, running circles around them.. She tries to attack the vacuum when I'm vacuuming..
Gypsie is sorta smart, but not really.. She'll learn stuff, but not necessarily retain it.. but she's the cutest thing you've ever seen, hands down.. She was paralyzed and had to learn how to walk again after her surgery, but did she ever.. When she gets the zoomies, its the funniest thing ever, but I'll be sitting there watching her, scared to death she's going to injure her back, again.. She's teeny tiny (a Pocket Beagle) and everybody thinks she's a puppy, even tho she's 13.. She loves to sit in my lap, her boney little paws digging into my quads.. If she sees a bunny, she'll completely lose her mind screeching at the top of her lungs.. I was walking her one night and she saw a bunny and EVERYONE on the block came outside to see if I was beating her..
.. Speaking of zoomies.. When Hatfield gets the zoomies, its hysterical.. Hatfield's nickname is Goober and that name fits him perfectly.. He's ALWAYS smiling and his tail, which was broken in his massive injury that broke his snout in half, is always wagging.. but left to right, pointing down.. I also nicknamed him Bottleneck, because he LOVES to stand in my way in doorways.. He'll walk in front of me and hit the brakes causing me to go flying, so that I don't run into him.. Hatfield actually has the funniest zoomies because he's this big 'ol Goober Beagle bouncing around the room, slow as molasses, but going as fast as he can.. That's one goofy, lovable dog.. But don't let the goofiness fool ya.. I was fostering another Beagle and Hatfield had had ENOUGH of the other Beagle and took him straight down to the ground and stood on top of him like Ali used to after knocking out his opponent..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
