I still, for the life of me, can't.....

figure out how a record player actually works.. I've seen microscope photos of the needle in the jagged grooves in the vinyl hunk of plastic.. I can understand that playing and making all kinds of screechy noises, but HOW THE HELL does a needle in jagged grooves sound exactly like Fats Domino or Eddie Van Halen?

I've never looked it up.. Maybe I need to.. Cuz, seriously, seriously.. HOW THE HELL does that scratchy, jagged, needle in a groove of plastic play anything other than a bag full of cats screeching?
