How did this post slip by me? Had Jimmy not mentioned it, I may never have seen it.. I'm so sorry, brother.. I hope you aren't in too much pain and your recovery is coming along well.. Man, that sounds painful...!

To try to answer your question about if getting old just sucks, or if we're paying penance.. I'm gonna say..... both!

Me thinking, "I haven't screwed over enough people to warrant paying back THIS much.. I've had some pretty bad times in life and some AWFUL things happen, but I don't honestly feel like I deserved THIS much payback.. I've really tried to be good to people and go out of my way to help them, so I don't want to think this is ALL my fault.."

But you never know.. I guess you always think you weren't as bad as you actually were.. Maybe I DID build up enough points, or earn enough boxtops to get the harsher prizes as an adult.. I wish there was a database somewhere that allowed you to check all that out.. I can see it now:

"Yo, dude! You were ONE cuss word away from winning a broken bone in your 60's!" or, "One less "FU" and you would have acquired enough points to take that third Bora Bora trip!"

I dunno - I'm kinda goofy.. but I do think of stuff like this from time to time..

I do hope you feel better soon, brother.. That's really, really gotta hurt.. I cannot even imagine that much pain.. I've been lucky that I've really never been injured that badly in life.. I think its partly my amazing cat-like relexes combined with the fact I lose everything, so those points and boxtops I saved up surely were misplaced along the way.. lol
