Well, what I'd like to tell you is that I'm one tough man and went thru the surgery with little to no problems. But that would be a lie. That was the toughest thing I've ever gone through. The misery of it brought me to my knees.
At times I was a simpering weenie who needed help to do anything. I HATE admitting that. I lost count of how many tubes were attached to me. BUT.... I can say this:
Average recovery time to be able to leave the hospital is 12 days.... I did it in 7. It was actually two major surgeries....my jaw and my leg. Get this... they took a piece of the small bone in my leg and reconstructed my jaw... it turned out GREAT.... and you know what they replaced the gone in my leg with? NOTHING. They said it's non-load bearing and I will. be able hike again. Amazing To be honest I was hoping to be at least a little 'bionic'.

.
This battle is not over. Now I have radiation coming up... but for now I'm doing GREAT. The Doctors worked a miracle..... there will be some permanent numbness but as far as scarring/disfigurement there will be very little. I'll add a photo from earlier today. (lots a facial swelling)
I didn't lose much weight, oddly. Well, I did, but I was so overweight that after losing about 35lbs I'm still fat.

My diet for the next two weeks is horrific...almost no fat. I love fat.

Ok, I know I'm boring the hell out of you guys so I'll stop now. Just wanted to say I'm home, doing good, and my spirits are still up. Thanks to you all for your concern and GO RAMS!!!!!!!!!
Taken on the drive home from SF a couple of hours ago at San Luis Reservoir. We stopped so I could view a herd of Elk.
