Well.. This has been pretty typical lately..

in that both new high schools were named Legacy High School Leopards and Memorial High School Mavericks.. If you look around, at least in Texas, almost all new high schools that are being built to replace existing high schools with storied histories and backgrounds, are being names "Legacy" and "Memorial"..

So, Legacy is using Leopards and Memorial is using a Maverick, but when I think Maverick, I think of a horse and Tom Cruise.. Let me see if I can find pics of both to post.. Their Maverick looks like a water buffalo.. Yeah... a water buffalo will get the masses fired up, won't they? Leopards was a mascot used by an elementary school years ago, if I remember correctly.. I'm not enthused enough by either name to look up where the names came from.. I do know whoever drew one mascot did the other and they both have the same overall vibe, which is pure stupidity, imo.. They should have at least had the little text in the image say "Home of the Leapin' Leopards" or something else that would have filled the space, like "Mighty" in the Maverick's graphic.. It just amazes me they basically used the same design for both high schools..
