who grew up in this city, as I did (close to its center) last Sunday's L.A. Times had a list of the 101 best movies that focused on both its ugly and beauty. Some I have seen, some I have never heard of. Some obvious ones -Chinatown, Sunset Blvd., Mulholland Drive, Blade Runner, Shampoo, Boogie Nights, The Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, etc. Several others I have not seen or even heard of.
