I was, for my age, ranked 9th in Texas at one point, but that was decades ago.. I put down the racquet for a guitar - mostly because the new coach at the high school I went to, did not like me whatsoever.. Funny, because he was the brother of the soundman for Pantera - a friend of mine name Aaron Barnes.. In college I took tennis just for the credit and the college coach BEGGED me to try out for the team, but I was a full blown guitarist by then.. After that, I put the racquet down until about 3 years ago..
3 years ago, we were allowed to do 45 minutes PT at work.. The base here has tennis courts and one of them has a backboard.. I grew up hitting on a backboard for hours, so I started hitting on a backboard 3 years ago every day.. I got my strokes back really well.. The backboard was old, and wooden, and it was always a total RUSH to smack a ball and hear the wood split.. LOVED it..
So, government shut down Oct 1 and I had a month of leave that was use or lose that I used in December, so I haven't hit on the backboard since Oct 1.. I REALLY want to do some adult tournaments, but I don't think they offer them here anymore.. Everyone is into "pickleball" which looks, to me, like out-of-shape people's tennis.. I'd rather play badminton that pickleball.. I took badminton in college, as well, and it was the most fun I've probably ever had..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
