I've been a Renegades fan, but mostly just because of Bob Stoops. I also liked the Battlehawks because of the Rams connections.
When Stoops announced his retirement I wondered if I would become a full-fledged Battlehawks fan. This probably settles it. Ricky Proehl was one of my favorites going back to the pre-greatestshowonturf days.
There was a story that went around from about the 2000 ish era that Proehl's son (not sure which one), who was about 4 years old at the time was in the locker room after a Rams win. Proehl had caught a big third down conversion and a touchdown in the game. The story was that Kurt Warner was sitting on a bench in the locker room talking to him after the game.
Warner says to him, "Your dad really bailed me out today." Proehl-kid says, "What did he do?" Warner says, "I made a bad pass, but he caught it anyway." Proehl kid says, "The touchdown?" Warner says, "No, are you kidding me? I dropped that one right in his lap. I did everything but catch that one for him."
I thought it was a hilarious story. Someone here said they sat right in front of Proehl's wife at a game and asked her about it, and she said if it happened she never heard about it. I love the story thought!
