race to drive thru them. Well, actually, we don't get rain like that.... but we can get short bursts of pretty heavy rain. Since I'm in the San Joaquin Valley we can see storms moving from MILES away so if it's within ohhhh, say 30 miles we'll jump in our pickups, punch it, and see if we can drive into them.

Wouldn't have been able to drive through this. I wasn't in my car but twice in my life I've been driving where the rain got so heavy everyone just pulled over because even with your wipers on full you couldn't see the end of your hood, never mind the road.
