I already know your answer... the 80's. I loved the 80's... but favorite?
I think we all choose our personal generation... I'm VERY partial to the 60's, (my generation). But I wouldn't choose the 60's.... I think I wouldn't even choose in my lifetime... the 40's. Jazz was coming of age.. classical was still recognized... big band was in their heyday.... great days for music!
SINCE I was born... ok, maybe the 60's... I actually do think you guys voting the 80's have very good legs to stand on. I think the 70's are misunderstood... because some of it was ehhh, maybe a lot of it... but what WAS good... was GREAT.
The 50's... not a favorite decade of mine BUT... it was the decade that got me into music. Rock and Roll WAS BORN... or at least what would become Rock and Roll.

Chuck Berry was amazing.
So after careful consideration... and SINCE I was born... I won't be the exception... MY generation... the 60's. (I stand by the 40's over all) WHY? Well, I liked it, that's the main reason... but also... more diversity. A LOT more diversity... like an ENORMOUS range of diversity compared to any decade that followed.
Love to hear differing opinions... which makes you WRONG... but I still like hearing it.
