Old Black & White MoviesI came across it sometime back. You all know me... a sucker for those old B&W movies and this website is replete with them. Watched an old Western tonight, (site is NOT just old westerns), called "Hawk of Powder River". A 1948 film. I chose it because I only knew... ummmm, ONE actor in it. No, two. Also I had never heard of it. And I don't mind giving anything away since none of you will ever watch it... I was very surprised because the "Bad Guy", you know, the one in the black hat, is actually the "Bad Gal".... that's right... a woman. Vile lady at that... AND... she dies in the end. Gets shot by the hero.
You often hear these days that the old movies sugar coated things... dared not take on controversial topics. I have never found that to be entirely true. So an old western with a lady villain.
The movie was filmed on the Iverson Ranch.... if you don't know I guarantee you've seen it in a movie and/or a TV show. Just possibly the most used location for outdoor scenes. You may know a 'part' of it.. .Spahn Ranch... where Charles Mason's family hung out in the late 60's. It's also the location of the "Lone Ranger Rock". As far as movies and TV shows well, it's just easier to say they were ALL filmed there. - JamesJM
